Some nine golden wreaths have been found in Greece as the Thessaloniki subway system is being dug. The one featured in this story dates to the late-fourth/early third century B.C. The discovered wreaths were used to crown the aristocratic deceased. Digging on the subway system began back in 2006. Oh, and get a load of this:"About 23,000 ancient and medieval artifacts have been unearthed during the ongoing dig for the Thessaloniki subway system."Can you imagine how many more artifacts are still awaiting discovery under the earth?
I like the headline “Ancient Gold Wreath Found In Greek Subway”, it makes it sound as though somebody found the thing while waiting for their evening commute.
