You might notice some new features to the forum here and in the future. This is because I upgraded the forum software (with some aggravation).A great new feature is the "W" you'll see in the toolbar above the posting area. It's a bbc Wikipedia buttom, which means you can use it to quickly link a word to a Wikipedia article - a good thing if you're in need of a reference (and I'm constantly referring to Wikipedia articles!). To use it, simply: 1) highlight a word or phrase that you want to have refer to a Wiki article2) click on the Wikipedia "W" button3) you'll see a set of brackets, including a [ wiki= . After the "=", you'll need to put in a word which is the heading for the Wikipedia encyclopedia article. That's it!An example of this is if I were to write something like "Old New York was a Dutch settlement in the 17th Century", I could highlight "Old New York" and insert a Wiki reference. Here's how it might look:
New AmsterdamOld New York[/wiki] was a Dutch settlement in the 17th Century
You can see how there's a little wiki superscript beside the words with a Wikipedia reference. If you click on the word "Old New York", you're brought to the Wikipedia entry I referred to. Neat, huh?Or I can go all crazy like this:
I hope that others use this like I will. If you have any questions, go ahead and ask me!Another features is a Googlebot tracker. On the bottom of some pages you'll see a "Google last visited this pages on...". Whatdya'll think of that?
Thanks…I'm glad you like them. They're not up for all the boards right now and some may change as I see what works and what doesn't, but they should eventually all be complete.
