Did anyone catch the opening ceremonies? They certainly gave a patriotic telling of Russian history. Whitewashed (redwashed?) the era of Soviet control.
I was waiting for them to show the mass murder of farmers and Eastern Europeans by Stalin.
Much like 1980, I am not watching the 2014 games.
I haven't been watching much of it either.
Well, I for one like seeing sports on TV that I would normally not be interested in watching. “So what in the world makes for a good luge competitor?”

Strange, but I am not really bothered by the fact that the U.S. is lagging behind in Olympic medals this time around. The may reflect my attitude toward my country, sorry to say. Or, maybe it's not my attitude toward my country, but to my fellow citizens who have chosen a path by their voting and preferences that is bringing the country down the path of destruction (morally, economically, and perhaps even militarily).
