Picture this:1970 - "Oh my, those people in 1960 were so lame with the technology that they had, but which doesn't measure up to the technology of today!"1980 - "Oh my, those people in 1970 were so lame with the technology that they had, but which doesn't measure up to the technology of today!"1990 - "Oh my, those people in 1980 were so lame with the technology that they had, but which doesn't measure up to the technology of today!"2000 - "Oh my, those people in 1990 were so lame with the technology that they had, but which doesn't measure up to the technology of today!"2010 - "Oh my, those people in 2000 were so lame with the technology that they had, but which doesn't measure up to the technology of today!"Etc., etc. My thoughts: no matter how "good" we have it today, and my much we laugh at the people of yesteryear for the advancements of their time compared to today, our own technology is always going to pale in comparison to the technology of tomorrow. Or is it? Do you think there will ever be a time (apocalyptic scenario notwithstanding) when technology will start to level off? In other words, will there be a decade when the incremental advances in technology will be more marginal, or will there pretty much always be the exponential advances we've been seeing over the past decades?
scout1067ParticipantI have read several stories claiming that Moore's law is starting to level off and that it will fail completely within the next 2-3 decades.
