I waited and I waited for you to make a mistake, and well the mistake never really came. Well done. I enjoyed that match. I'm amazed that I held out as long as I did, but your attack was relentless and well balanced. I learned a lot from that game. I knew I was in for a long game when I opened foolishly with the king's pawn….and you made me pay the price all the way through. 😀
Thanks – it was a grudge match. I think we began December 22 and it only ended today, December 31. I unwillingly let you get back into the game and I still do not remember when I lost my bishop. One moment I had it, another I didn't have it. So at least we were at equal strength going into the end. I saw an opportunity to stretch the board and have my queen put you in check. It was not an easy game.

I got fatigued down the stretch. I was praying for a back rank mate but you moved your pawn so that your king could have a way out. So then I had to shift my forces back toward your pieces that were bearing down on me, and even though I tried, I was sloppy. Winning the bishop was nothing more than a token moral victory because I could not really mount an effective counter attack. I tried though, but you easily saw my pitiful attempts well in advance. The key to chess is to think several moves ahead and to think several moves ahead for your opponent. Patience is a big part of the game. I tried to test your patience by developing my pawn structure methodically, but it was nothing more than a hold the line kind of strategy rather than setting up something I could effectively attack with. 🙁
Indeed – I noticed that my king was in danger (almost too late) and had it gone unnoticed for another move or two you could have put me in an easy checkmate. Your pawn development was pretty good and it threw a wrench into my hopes for easy domination.
Well there is very little difference really, but white gets a half move advantage to develop, but black usually can catch up without too much difficulty. Still white dictates the pace until the middle game. It's whatever you prefer I suppose.
Congratulations to Donnie for his latest victory over me in our recent chess match. I was sleeping at the keyboard and so I lost some key pieces early on. I figured I was doomed but decided to play along some more moves until it became pointless for me to continue. He gets the trophy.

Yes your early setbacks did you in. I was shocked that I was able to gain those pieces especially how you brutalized me the last time with a similar attack. Well we are now tied so a rubber match seems to be coming up next. 🙂
I know this might sound geeky but I'm trying to find an online multiplayer game where we can compete as a team (or perhaps against each other). A while back I played the game “Puzzle Pirates” which is actually a kids' game but the concept was pretty neat – lots of people controlled their own person and bought and sold stuff and solved puzzles and what not. I got bored with that particular game but there might be something else we can do that would be kind of cool.

Sounds good. I could reactivate the flash game module at CL, but it has some adult oriented games that wouldn't really be a good fit for a Christian website. It's very similar to what you have here, but with hundreds of games. If I could find a game site that didn't have questionable games, it would be nice. Of course chess is the ultimate game IMHO so I am easily satisfied with it. Let me know what you find out.
What kind of flash game module is it? There are a few dozen or so more games that I can install on this site but I wanted to limit the number offered. I did find a game called “kung fu chess” on a site which looked somewhat interesting.

I thought I gave you admin access to the portal? You should be able to go into the admin panel and then click on modules and see the ones that are yet to be activated. Let me know if if you can't get in.
