Today I ran into a minor inconvenience when I tried to watch TV on my computer through the Xfinity site.  Although I don’t generally use the Microsoft Edge browser for web surfing, I do use it regularly for streaming Xfinity TV.  Today, however, I was given a message stating that Adobe Flash was disabled and that I needed to enable it to watch TV.

Strange.  I thought perhaps Edge was updated recently when my Windows had a recent update.  I followed the instructions by going to Settings > Advanced Settings and looking for the”Use Adobe Flash Player” option, but this was already set to on.  Strange again.

I then tried logging on to Xfinity through Chrome, but I got the same message about Flash not being enabled.  What in the world?  When I looked at how to enable it, I found instructions that actually worked.  I then tried something similar on Edge and that worked as well.

The trick is to go to the site where Flash is needed and click on the lock next to the URL.  Under website permissions, you need to allow Flash for that particular website.

I’m not sure what caused the change to occur in two of my browsers.  Strange indeed.
