I did not know until recently that these are 2 different songs. The Army changed the lyrics (and slight changes to the melody) because they thought The Caisson Song was too 'field artillery' specific. (the Caisson Song has 2 versions)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Army_Goes_Rolling_AlongI like this from the verse of the Army Song.
