    Anyone ever heard of Norton the First, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico? He was an eccentric character in San Francisco in the late 1800s named Joshua A. Norton.  He died in 1880.  Apparently the locals all humored him and he was a local fixture.

    Oh Yea. He even printed his own money and he was so beloved by the people of San Fransisco that they accepted it (but only from him)
