Skiguy, what do you think of the recent psyops involving movie posters put out by insurgents against the U.S.? While psyops may have been around for what…..three, four, or five decades?….this is the first time I've seen it used by insurgents against the U.S. I saw a link to the movie posters on Drudge.
Thank you for this topic! The insurgent's psyop has been going on quite a while, wouldn't you say? They've been effectively using the media and videos a lot. Some of those posters are really bad, but if that's the best they can come up with for pschological operations, that's good for our side. I don't think they are going to affect our troops too much. Did you see the George Bush "Animal" one? 🙂http://news.sky.com/skynews/picture_gallery/0,,70141-1274249,00.html
Those videos are one thing, but these movie posters are another, perhaps because of their technical quality. Personally I don't think they're very effective at all in provoking the reaction that was probably intended. I would think that the person(s) behind this is a Western-born (American, British) Islamist terrorist type.

Actually they will have the opposite effect. I can see Generals and other commanding officers posting those stupid posters in the barracks to get the blood boiling of the soldiers. It's great bulletin board material just like coaches use to get their teams riled up for the big game. 😉

Sounds like you're suggesting use of "counter-psyops" where the U.S. generals manipulate images that were originally manipulated by the pro-insurgency, eh?
This is really not that big an issue. Insurgent psyop on Americans is ineffective. Where they are very dangerous is their use of psyop on the Iraq citizens, and that's where our biggest problem lies. Look at Hezbollah's use of it in Lebanon, for example. VERY effective. :-It's difficult to counter that because of the cultural differences and the "validity" of us(non-Arabic/non-Islam) vs. them.
