I found a page which profiles “Top 10 Medieval Scientists Smarter Than Einstein“. I think “smarter than Einstein” is a bad phrase to use (it is pointless comparing minds from different eras) but the list is illuminating nonetheless. Note the prevalence of Islamic scholars here. Al Andalus (Spain as they called it) was a hotbed of scholarly learning in the Middle Ages, although I’m not sure if the figures in the list actually lived there during their time.The list condensed down to their names:
