First, I want to say that I'm happy the forum has been quite active recently. This month of March is projected to have the most number of posts ever by quite a long shot – more than double the previous high month. You can see this by going down to the [More Stats] page.Second, I want to ask if people could try to keep discussion a bit more on topic. There's been an increase in the number of threads about historical topics that get consumed in topics that have nothing at all to do with the titled subject of the thread. I realize that not every post is going to be exactly on topic and I don't want people to be worried about this. It's just that if an initial post is about historical topic A and the next ten posts in that thread are about unrelated issue B, future visitors will be let down if they google "historical topic A" but find that the thread is mostly on another topic. You are of course welcome to discuss unrelated or off topic issues in the Roman Senate Chambers. I think I will split some off-topic discussions in the future and move them to more appropriate forum boards. If you have any questions or comments on this, please post them here.
I plead guilty as well and will try harder to police myself in the future. :-[ I was just thinking to myself today that there has been way too much politics and not enough history lately.
I guess I'll start moderating the threads that go off track then. I'm so used to letting things go sideways on my forums I didn't realize that it would actually do damage here. I'll be more responsible from here on out.
