This is an excellent piece in The Weekly Standard: A World in Crisis: What the thirties tell us about today. This is one of the few editorial type pieces I have seen that contrasts the 30's with today that not only talks about the similarities but goes out of its way to point out how the Great Depression differs from the Great Recession. It is fairly long but well worth the ten minutes of your time to read it.I have found myself wondering what historians will write bout the current crisis in 30 years and where world events are leading us. One thing is for certain, we may try to peer into the crystal ball but as 1 Corinthians, 13:12 of the King James version notably says, we are only seeing "through a glass, darkly."
