I include the letters “OT” in some post titles because when new posts are made on the forum, they are sent over to my Twitter feed. The “OT” (off topic) means those particular posts will be filtered out and so will not be posted to Twitter. They are typically non-history posts, and my Twitter account is followed by people looking for history-related tweets. I use a service called Twitterfeed.com to post tweets for me, and unfortunately they don't allow me to filter out posts based on the forum category.https://twitter.com/westerncivforumSeveral hours after I make posts, I try to remove the "OT" from the post title. Anyway, you don't have to follow my practice and can post with or without the OT as you wish.
So if we put OT in a new topic it won't post to Twitter?
Yes. I tried making so that the + sign prevented it from being posted to Twitter, but for some reason that didn't work. So for now, just put OT and it won't send out the tweet. Posts get refreshed every 1/2 hour or so, so if you want to modify the subject line to remove the OT later on, you can do that. Also, posts in the Roman Senate Chamber never get tweeted anyway, so don't worry about those.
