Cultural Sensitivity? I almost cannot believe this is true. I also agree with the lady in the article that “suggestions” often have the implicit power of orders in the military. It is just the way the military works.
The photo does look awful suspicious to me. The “encouragement” to wear it part is plausible though. I have so far only seen the article on right-leaning websites so I am somewhat doubtful of the stories validity. I would not put it past a local commander though.
I think you are right about the blonde woman… she looks familiar to me as well and something about her doesn't look right… Any commander that would send one of their soldiers out without proper safety in mind, is in neglect. And like the article syas, wearing it with BDU's goes agains a whole ot of different Army Reg's that are in place for very specific reasons.I think the picture is bogus, but I think the PC world is indeed creeping into our military and is going to be a problem.
I figured it out, the blond looks like Linda Kozlowski in Crocodile Dundee. There is one part in the second movie I think, they are in New York, where she is wearing a white scarf like that.
My guess is on Photoshop as well.I went to the Daily Caller web site, and I think that the photo was probably used simply to illustrate the story as a "what if" photo....in other words, to be the kind of shocking photo that people (like us) would talk about if the policy were to come true. Naturally, photos speak louder than words sometimes.

The afghans had a pretty good success against the UN compound in Mazar-i-Sharif killing those UN workers too, didn't they? I do not think anyone except the tireless champions of human rights think war can be waged without civilian casualties or mistakes. I especially like how the press blames the wacko in Florida for the deaths, I guess the Afghans that did it are just puppets with no volition of their own?
Why are you calling that pastor in Florida a whacko?
Because I think he is a wacko. I don't think he should be censured, his and the actions of his congregation are well within the law. I do think it was a stupid thing for him to do, although I don't rise to the same level of indignation that Petraeus does. My personal opinion is that this guy and his church approach the same level of wackiness that the Westboro Baptist Church does. The only difference is in their method not how crazy they both sound. I did not say that I disagree with his characterization of the Koran, by and large, I do not. I also think he is within his rights to do whatever he wants to a copy of the Koran. I still reserve my right to think he is a wacko.
