ModeratorIt's like a freaking spy novel. Russian intel is saying he was giving nuclear and biological weapons secrets to al Qaeda in order to start a war between Pakistan and the US. Consider the source, but still. Strange world we live in.

Yes. Raymond Davis.

ParticipantWe have been talking about it at work. Personally I think it is a crock what they are charging him with and am disgusted that apparently the administration is is apparently going throw him under the bus. I am guessing the logic is something like we cannot make too much of a stink or it will damage relations with Pakistan. Realistically, we cannot make too much of a stink because the logistic lifeline for the troops in Afghanistan runs through Pakistan. That being said, I think we should put a Predator on station over the Pakistani seat of government with B-52s on call until they release this guy. I just cannot believe that ONE American's life is worth good relations with a dubious “ally” like Pakistan.

ModeratorGlad you put ally in quotes. Latest reports say he's in jail with Islamic militants. If they don't get him out soon, he won't last long.I'm hoping we don't see him hanging in the streets in a few days, but I wouldn't put it past them.

Alex Jones and his people have been saying for a long time that we wanted to provoke a war with Pakistan to divide it into smaller nations.

It's all about control of the Caucus oil pipeline and Pakistan is a threat with its nuclear weapons to U.S. hegemony there...well that's what AJ and his crew are saying. Might be some truth in there who knows.

ParticipantWe would probably classify Pakistan with Iran and North Korea if we did not need them for land access to Afghanistan. Our relationship with them is the ultimate example of RealPolitik trumping principle.

ParticipantHere is the latest on this farce of a story. I do not understand why the U.S. is not just bluntly demanding Davis's release and threatening to cut off all aid until they do. Ok, I do know why, I still completely disagree with it. The guy is a U.S. citizen and was working for the CIA/State Department. Isn't there an obligation on the government's part in their somewhere to take care of this guy?

What about it? If he has diplomatic immunity, he has diplomatic immunity. The only remedy then is sending him home. If we are going to set the precedent of prosecuting people with diplomatic immunity anyway then I vote that New York City starts going after all the diplomats at the UN for their $18 million in unpaid parking tickets.Cultures of Corruption: Evidence from Diplomatic Parking Tickets
