ModeratorSorry haven't been posting much lately. It's been a rough week taking care of my older dog. Yesterday I made an appointment with the vet to put Bart down. Appt was at 10:15am. He died on my lap here at home at 9:30am. Isn't that weird? He was a great dog and companion. :'(

KeymasterWow, that is weird. Sorry about your loss.

ParticipantMan that sucks. I feel more sad when animals die than when people do. I don't know why or if it's wrong to feel that way, but that's how I feel. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Dogs never let you down or betray you. Maybe that's why I hurt when they die more.

Participant… when it happened to me a former student gifted me with a copy of Tolkein's Roverandom; the best Rx I know for what you are suffering.Condolences,Wally

ParticipantSorry Ski, I know the feeling. I had a dog die of Parvo in my lap. It was the saddest thing to watch that little life takes its last breath. I'll never forget it.

ParticipantSorry Ski. I know exactly how you feel. Try to remember the good times. Dogs truly are man's best friend.

ModeratorThanks for your condolences, guys. I can see we all know what the love and loss of dog feels like. I'm OK, but some things set me off to make me sad. I kind of wish I got his ashes, but at least I have his collar with his fur on it. I'm sooooo glad I have my other dog. She's different; a little more independent and although she may not be a big dumb loveable Black Lab like Bart, she's a good companion.

ParticipantSki,I've since let the collar go but I do have the box of doggie dust in my dresser drawer.Know where you are coming from.Wally
