I almost forgot – there's a movie titled “300” that is coming out sometime soon.  By the looks of the previews, it looks to be quite an epic feast for the eyes.  I have no idea whether it will be any good or not, but at least it's nice to see that Hollywood is continuing to depict events from antiquity.  Hey, maybe my namesake will even get a mention in the film!

They're supposed to be showing this film in the IMAX theater in Louisville.  It looks to have a lot of cgi in it, and that makes me wary of the movie.  I wish Hollywood would go away from cgi in epic historical films.  It might work well for sci fi, but not when swords and spears are the primary weapon.  Braveheart didn't have much cgi, and it was a blockbuster.  Oh well, I shouldn't condemn the movie before I see it. 😀

I brought this up in another thread. It seems to have a lot of fantasy type aspects to it. It was made by the same guy who did Sin City, which I have seen bits and peices of and it was a horrible movie.

Yeah I saw some previews and the lighting looked manipulated, but perhaps in a good way.  It kind of makes is slightly surreal.  It does look like it has some “fantasy” aspects to it from the previews…I may have to check it out at the theaters.

This movie's had one of the biggest opening weekends of all time.  It's interesting how it's appealing to so many people.

This movies made almost 200 million dollers, I hope its success breeds more historical epics.

Not I….I'm sure it'll be on DVD any day now, if not already.

Just to much “graphic Novel” influence for me.
