My wife and I have been watching several fictional British period TV series. They're not always watchable because of their historical content, but they are enjoyable. They are:Downton Abbey - already vastly popular, I recommend it for the fascinating portrayal of the shifting fortunes of the British aristocracy during the early twentieth centuryLark Rise to Candleford - this is highly enjoyable for its idealic portrayal of small town life in the late-nineteenth centuryCranford - a short series, this is your typical English "romance" story from a small town in the mid-nineteenth centuryNorth and South - referring to England (not the U.S.), North and South revolves around issues such as city vs. country, and greedy capitalist vs. humanitarian concerns
