Winston Churchill resigns following a landslide general election defeat. Clement Atlee becomes the new Prime Minister.

I would be interested in knowing why Churchill - possibly considered one of the greatest world leaders of the Twentieth Century - would have lost an election by a landslide right on the heels of the Allies' triumph over Germany.  Seems like something must have been afoot....
