A 66-year-old Livingston man was burned when a man asked him for a light and, instead of lighting a cigarette as he thought, he lit a paper cartridge filled with gun powder.
wait i dont see how this is a prank it is just a stupid person…first of all cigarettes are not period and he should not have them on him around spectators and if was not around spectators he should not have had on his cartridge box on and he should dang sure know not to put a cigarette in a cartridge box this dude was just and idiot!!
The story was a bit hard to follow but from my reading it seemed like the guy thought it would go “pop”, which would have been funny, but instead it went “bang” and burned the unsuspecting victim.
It sounded like the guy thought it would be a prank and instead it went wrong and burned the guy. Granted, that is pretty stupid and probably worth a good a%%-whipping but the police charging the guy with “simple assault” is kind of overkill. “Simple Assault” is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of six-months in jail and $1,000 fine. The police would have us believe that a stupid joke deserves jail time or more likely probation and a fine? I got it that the guy was dumb but stupidity is not illegal. I would be very curious to know the opinion of the guy that was burned, obviously he knows the idiot. I wonder if he thinks his buddy should be facing criminal charges.
