I thought some of you here would get a kick out of this:Live Civil War Shell Found in Wall
Construction workers have made an unusual find inside the wall of a Charles Town home: a live ten-pound Confederate artillery round.
According to the story, the building was being renovated by its new purchaser: American Public University System (which runs American Military University). Now all we need are some insider pictures of the shell so they can be posted in this thread! 😀
Hmmh. Interesting but not surprising given the part of the country AMU calls home. Civil War battlefields are as thick as thieves in that part of the country. In spitting distance of each other, as my grandfather would have said.
APUS owns several historic buildings in Charles Town. Makes you wonder if any of the other houses in the area have live rounds burried in the yards or walls!
