Seems like things have slowed down here recently. Perhaps it's that time of summer. Speaking of, anyone have any travel plans over the next month or two? I have a potential trip to the Pittsburgh area later on, but I'll have to see how things pan out. With the price of airline tickets not wanting to dip down it might be hard to make the trip.
Yes, dog days of summer fits. Been hot and humid here all week. Good thing I'm on vacation! Sorry haven't been posting, just trying to get ahead with school work. Lot of reading the next 2 weeks, plus a quiz, PPT presentation and the final. Then I'm taking August off from school. No trips planned this week (although I might go to the Cape Fri or Sat). Whenever I think of going somewhere though, the thought of how much money I'm saving in gas by NOT going trumps it. 😀
My current class ends at the end of July and I'll be taking August off as well. But I think that a paper proposal was accepted so I am going to need that month to prepare the paper and a presentation of it at the beginning of September. The paper deals with the location of a particular Baroque church sitting on the Bacino area of Venice. Classes then resume in September as well. I kind of wish I didn't take this summer class but I suppose that it's good to get it out of the way.
I've gone straight through since starting last June. When I took classes last August it was not fun, so if I schedule correctly, I'll do this every year. What's up in Pittsburgh? And how far a drive is that for you? Might be cheaper than flying!
Yes, driving would be easier than flying but it would take a whole day to travel in each direction. That might still be the better option in the end. My g/f's family lives out there and they want to meet me. I've only really been to the airport there and have driven through Pennsylvania a few times, such as on way to Virginia and another time on my way to New York. You northeasterners/New Englanders don't know how good you have it. As a kid (and even when I grew up) I dreamed of visiting colonial sites, picturesque watermills, and quaint seaside towns. We don't quite have those in the Midwest.
Yeah but you can go jet-skiing and swimming in huge lakes that don't have sharks. Although I don't go to the ocean often, I like living near it...plus it's only a 3 hour drive to mountains There's a lot of historical sights in Boston and a little north. Hmm, maybe I'll do that instead of the Cape. Was thinking of going to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, but maybe I'll save that for later.
Having just finished my 6th master's class and just receiving orders to Germany, most of my time is preparing for the move. Anyone want to rent a house down here near the “redneck riveria” I mean “Emerald Coast”? I plan to look into sites from both world wars while I'm in Germany and possibly do some genealogical trips since I have traced my wife's father's family to Stargard and my mother's father's family to Poland. Anyone know of some places I shouldn't miss while I'm over there?
I am on vacation before I PCS to Germany. My dad has kept me pretty busy at the family farm helping him out with big projects and I am heading to Boston by way of Gettysburg next week before flying to Germany on the 29th. I just managed to steal some computer time today because of rain.
I've been seriously out of the loop here for awhile. My youngest daughter is playing for a couple of fastpitch softball travel teams and my oldest daughter is getting ready for her first year of college so life has been a bit busy around my house. Sometimes, I look forward to winter because our “softball life” slows down to a few weeks of indoor ball before Christmas then stops completely until March of the following year. No summer classes for me, currently, and I feel guilty but with my girls and their activities, my full-time job and helping my dad take care of my mom who suffers with alzheimers....ugh, I'm a tad worn out. I am looking forward to my fall classes, though, and giving my brain a good "work-out".Have a good one & enjoy everyone...
