The report written by Dr. Charles Leale after Lincoln's assassination at Ford's Theater was just found in the National Archives. It was placed in a box and had not been seen for almost 150 years. Really, who wouldn't love to have the job of going through boxes of archives that have not seen the light of day in who knows how long?Report of first doctor to reach shot Lincoln foundIncidentally, I was checking out the Wikipedia article on Albert Freeman Africanus King, another doctor who attended Lincoln at Ford's Theater on that fateful night, and I saw that he was among the first who drew a link between mosquitoes and malaria. But note this:
In 1882, King proposed a method to eradicate malaria from Washington, DC. His method was to encircle the city with a wire screen as high as the Washington Monument.
You have to hand it to him for thinking outside the box!
