I just placed an order for a Single Action Army with U.S. Firearms. It will be a 5.5 inch bbl that will shoot both .45 Colt and .45 ACP. Seems cool to me. I have an 1892 Winchester chambered for .45 Colt, but I think my next purchase will be one that lobs .44 magnums. Seems logical to me. Bang! Bang!
Much depends on the projected use of the particualr piece… home defense might be better served with a .38, loaded with 3 snake loads and 3 wadcutters (IMHO).
If I didn't live in CA (the land of the fruits and nuts) I'd go for a Taurus Judge… .45LC / .410; sadly here in the PR of CA it would be on the list for the ability to fire the shotguns shells. More is the pity.

I like your idea, Wally. I bought this little 5 shooter (a model 36 chiefs special) from my dad, and heard (from S&W) it was not cool to pop plus p ammo - and, so the story continues. So, no it's loaded with generic thirty eights. 🙂
Thank you all – but my real concern is this: Can a single action army revolver clylinder be chambered for both rounds? To put it another way, can one load old .45 Long Colts and more modern .45 ACPs without swapping cylinders? U.S Firearms led me to believe they can machine such a single action revolver. At least, that's what I am paying for.Comments? Hopes? Concerns?Decades ago, I had a .22/.22 magnum Colt single action with two cyclinders, and the magnum cyclinder dragged, and failed to fire on one chamber. Piece of shit, and this was circa 1970: Can they do any better today?I report facts here, but have to ask: Whatever happened to American craftsmanship?
HFIn order to shoot .45 Colt and .45 ACP in the same revolver requires two cylinders. The ,45 ACP headspaces on the front of the case(rimless case). The .45 Colt would not chamber all the way in a cylinder cut for the .45ACP. If half moon clips were used with the .45ACP then there would be too much headspace for the .45 colt as the rear of the cylinder would have to be cut enough to allow the clips to fit.My Ruger has both cylinders and it is accurate with both cartridgesYears ago when Webley .455 revolvers were cheap I used to buy them for about $15.00 then face off the rear of cylinders to accept .45 acp in half moon clips. Wish I had them now at the prices they are bringing currently

Thanks for your expert input - I know now that my new pissoliver will come with two cylinders. Bang, Bang!
