ParticipantIf Romney cares about what the media thinks then he is in for a huge disappointment.

ModeratorIt doesn't matter because the Democrats obstruct everything anyway. A President Ryan would be much more effective.

ParticipantRubio is probably the best choice for VP because he is a fresh face. Romney needs something fresh in his campaign badly.

ParticipantIt is not going to be any of the common suspects. I bet he picks somebody from out west to balance the Ticket. I am not so convinced that picking Rubio would garner the Hispanic vote. I also think that both Ron and Rand Paul are radioactive. Condi is a non-starter, she is too wishy-washy. How about Leroy Otter from Idaho? He is solid and non-controversial and also a relatively blank slate on the national stage.

ParticipantI don't think Romney has to worry about the Idaho vote. He will get someone from a battleground state.

Politicians are only "non-controversial" until they begin to run for national office. That's when the gloves come off, and the media starts digging through past records, interviewing associates, and going through the muck. Not only is the danger of picking an unknown the fact that, well, barely anyone has heard of the person, but also the fact that they haven't been vetted as much as national figures have. I'm sure the media has already been vetting Rubio, Ryan, etc. since they are already high-profile figures.Incidentally, I don't think I have ever heard of Leroy Otter before, and I pay a fair amount to national politics. The vast majority of voters will not have heard of him either, and that could pose a problem for Romney. I think he will go with someone who already has name recognition. It's too much of a gamble otherwise. I get the feeling that Romney isn't willing to gamble too much with this. McCain did it in 2008 and it turned out to be a mixed bag for him, but then again, he was running from behind. Romney has a better chance against Obama this time around so he'll probably go a more traditional route, IMO.

ParticipantRegardless of who he picks for his VP Romney better pull his head out of his fourth point of contact and start responding to Obama's idiotic attacks soon or he is going to start looking weaker than he already does. Romney needs to get out front and play offense and start forcing Obama to react to him for a change. He also needs to make healthcare a bigger issue. Romney cannot always let his surrogates lead the way as he has been doing.

ParticipantHow the Election Will Play Out (and Why Romney Will Win)This is one of the best analysis pieces I have seen so far. I think Romney will win and mainly because I think a lot of people are in the anyone but Obama mindset. It is certain that the Obama attacks of the past few days are reckless and counter-productive in my opinion. Then again I would vote for almost anybody but Obama at this point.

ParticipantI have never been called to take part in a poll. I have always wonder who they call. That, and I have never trusted polls anyway.

ParticipantRomney just scored some points with me. He declared Jerusalem to be Israel's capital on his visit over there. The link is on Drudge right now. If he is that pro Israel, then if he gets elected that's good news for the little Jewish nation.

ParticipantMormons and Jews have some commonalities in being persecuted, relatively small sects. I would not expect to do anything less than support Israel. I also get the impression that he cares about world opinion only to the point that world pressure does not infringe on US sovereignty. In other news, the Obama State Department has refused to sign on to the UN Small Arms Treaty. That actually surprises me since the UN is a liberal wet dream and liberals generally can't stop from slobbering all over themselves when the UN says jump. I am guessing the decision to back away from the treaty was purely political and had nothing to do with principal.

So does this mean you're going to vote for him now.
