We could see one of the greatest political miracles in American history or one of the greatest steps toward global socialism that the world has ever seen. Which will it be?
Yup. And Congress too. The sheep, aided by the media, have spoken. 🙁 Wonder how long will it take them to destroy this country? Too all those complaining about the economy, terrorist surveillance, Posse Comitatus, and the Patriot Act, just wait. You ain't seem nothing yet.
Could someone help me wrap my mind around this? Why was William Ayers a non-issue? It is a proven, admitted fact that Obama's career started, or at least was helped, in Ayers's living room. I changed majors from Intelligence Studies because there are some things in my past that made me question whether or not I could get a security clearance. If I spent any time with a domestic terrorist, no matter what the reason, I would imagine the NSA would have me strapped to a lie detector many times before or even if they cleared me.I just don't get that our new president-elect had ties with this guy. This isn't partisan, this isn't because I disagree with Obama's policies. It's just a question. I dunno. Maybe I'm just making too big an issue out of Bill Ayers? ???

The Electoral College was established to prevent this kind of thing, but the EC voters are just wall dressing now going along with how their states vote.

I think comparing anyone to the Furer is a delicate thing to begin with (and not completely parallel), but off hand I have noticed the circumstances of both being skilled orators, great inspirers/motivators, strong organizers who assume power during times of economic despair. One used the Jews as the scapegoat for society's ills, the other used President Bush.

That's a good point. I think it's different because the president is not "hired" by an employer but instead by millions of voters. I imagine the thinking is that one doesn't need the backing of a security clearance when one has the backing of the faith of the country.So hey, you can always skip the security clearance check and get into a government job by running for president. ;D
Obama spent a billion Dollars to get elected…he bought the White House plain and simple. Now the question arises where did the money come from? I dont believe the average person donated enough to get him that kind of money. Find out where that money came from and you will know what his agenda will be over the next 4 years
I look for the election hangover to kick in on all the fiscal conservatives that voted Obama as soon as he starts talking his budget. I cant wait to see what social spending they are going to propose to fix the economy, can anyone say a revivied WPA and CCC? If you think about it though, in the end, America is only getting the kind of leadership it deserves. We have descended into the era of mob rule, like late republican Rome. The mob has discovered they can vote themselves bread and circuses.
The weird thing is though Europe now considers Obama their president too. God this fanboyism is getting on my nerves. 🙁
Food for thought — if, by chance, you have any investments that you are considering selling in the next 18 months or so (if you've been prudent and have actually made a profit on some), I'd advise that you sell before Dec 31st. Any changes made to the tax plan in 2009 will most likely be retro-active to 1 Jan 09 — meaning long term capital gains will most likely jump from 15% if you sell in 08 to 25% if you sell in 09.Just something to think about.
