Today in 1981, the first space shuttle was launched. Today in 2011, they're announcing which museums will receive the now-retired shuttles.I am still uncertain how NASA is planning future space launches. What will be used?
They are going to contract to private launch providers. My bet would be on SpaceX, they have the best system and the one likely to mature first. I am watching them and will definitely buy some of their stock when they do an IPO, which is supposed to be this year. SpaceX already has a contract for resupply flights to ISS.
I guess it says a lot when government-sponsored pioneers of space flight resort to using private companies to get to space.
Cutting NASA's $19 billion a year budget is going to save the economy you know. Never mind that NASA is probably one of the most useful and productive agencies of the Federal government.
Except for their AGW forecasts
I do not really consider their climate unit part of NASA. I am more thinking of their space technology R&D arm.
