ModeratorIn a few days, I might be out for a while. Looks like were are going to be getting this massive, scary looking storm. It's not supposed to hit us until Monday, but it looks pretty nasty. I'm pretty sure rowing class will be cancelled Tuesday.

KeymasterAre you sure rowing class will be “canceled” Tuesday? It might turn into the biggest rowing event of the year (ok, let's hope not!).

I was hoping for an opportunity at a 5000m personal best.

KeymasterThey say the storm might affect early voting, I think in Florida. What if the storm affected various swing states so as to swing the election in Romney's favor? How would that go over in America?

ModeratorWe can only pray that will happen. ;D

ParticipantYeah, batten down and stay safe. We are expecting our first snow of the year over here tomorrow.

ModeratorIt's actually not looking that bad, it's a big storm but not one of the strongest I've experienced. I guess it depends where it hits. I just hope this is a usual case of overhype…because if they are correct, my state may truly become Rhode ISLAND.

ParticipantWell the liberals in the Northeast need a bath anyway. Maybe it's a good thing. Stay safe.

ModeratorThey're telling us to secure all loose items in your yard including campaign posters. So being the good neighbor that I am, I drove around earlier and removed all the Obama signs. You're welcome. ;D

KeymasterSki, give us periodic updates on how you're doing, what you're seeing. My brother stationed at Aberdeen MD seems to be in one of the projected paths of the hurricane, and I'm guessing it's kind of near where you are.

ModeratorI think the mid-Atlantic is getting the worst of this. At work now, still not too bad up here in New England yet. I did drive by the river yesterday at low tide and it did seem quite high for low tide and a little rough. Probably looks much worse today. Planning to drive by it on the way home. I think there will be some possible major coastal flooding from the surge. Hopefully the winds won't be so bad. But it hasn't made landfall anywhwere yet.

ModeratorSo far so good. The biggest gusts up here in my area have been about 50mph. The last hurricane was much worse as far as wind goes (so far). Hear they are getting near 90mph in southern RI and MA. The news channels are showing some nasty videos along the coast. Just hope I can keep power for at least another hour or two. Was planning to bake (electric stove) some salmon for supper. High tide at 8pm. Still think the biggest damage will be flooding from the tidal surge. The weathermen are saying the worst will be over by 9 tonight.

KeymasterIf you were a real rower, you'd be going out in a boat right about now.Just kidding. 😉 Glad you still have power.

ParticipantStay Safe. All I have to worry about is a little snow.
