I saw a show on the History Channel last night about Fort Knox. I did not know that the British Crown Jewels, the Declaration of Independence, and other items were moved into the secure location in Kentucky during World War II. Interesting to see, however, that the Wikipedia article on the British Crown Jewels claims that they did not leave country.
Your Wikipedia reference might have been removed because I didn't read anything about some of the Crown Jewels left there.Furthermore it seems that these Jewels are on display in the Tower of London and guarded by Yeomen Warders (?Beefeaters?).The present display of the Crown Jewels was opened by Her Majesty The Queen in 1994.http://www.royal.gov.uk/The%20Royal%20Collection%20and%20other%20collections/TheCrownJewels/Overview.aspx
