A source for free e-books that I use is the Gutenberg project. http://www.gutenberg.org.
To save battery life I don't use a Cloud. Using Windows Explorer I keep a copy of my e-books on my desktop's hard drive. That way I never have to buy or download a book twice. Also if I have more e-books than my Kendle will hold I can move e-books back and forth between the Kendle and the hard drive so that my Kendle has what I want at any given time.Not sure if this one has been posted yet.http://www.digitalbookindex.org/_SEARCH/search011t-rev.asp
You'll load up that Kindle in less than an hour. Good thing mine has external storage. 8)
The Kindle has external storage as well. Both on my PC's hard drive and in the Amazon Cloud.
I have the 4GB version, that is something like 1400 books. I don't see myself getting that many e-books for years and I certainly don't need all them with me at once.
