KeymasterIn a nation of arguable the most controversial revolution of all time, grounds for a new revolution may be simmering. President Hollande currently only enjoys the support of 25% of the French. Now, a French Spring?

ParticipantI will believe it when I see it. The French are just as cowed and compliant as most other Europeans, they will bow down and accept whatever the government throws at them with typical resignation. The Torch of Freedom burns only feebly in France and indeed the rest of Europe, the form of freedom satisfies them because they certainly do not have the reality. Most Europeans are content to only talk because they don't feel they can really achieve anything in the face of bureaucracy.

KeymasterYes, I doubt that anything will happen, either. How long ago was it that the French put this guy in office in the first place? I don't think one can divorce the voters from the officeholder all that easily. Unless there's trickery involved in getting a guy in office, the officeholder might be considered a symptom of the larger cultural problem. Same holds true in America.

ParticipantHollande has been in office for not quite a year yet, 15 May will be a year. I think what we are seeing in France is buyer's remorse. Maybe they didn't think he really meant it when he said how far left he was? I bet they wish they hadn't rejected Sarkozy about now huh?

ParticipantYes, Apollo 11 – I copied what was contained in the url. I thought it awfully late for a second Apollo mission but didn't bother investigating more.

These spammers are getting slick. He could pull at least a minimally relevant quote though, here is the original -

KeymasterI kind of get a kick out of these spammers…”why don't we put a random post about the Apollo 11 mission in the middle of a thread about modern French politics?”
