Has anyone ever heard that Hitler wanted to steal the Shroud of Turin during WWII? I havent but it sounds plausible given that the Nazis pretty much looted all of Europe during the war. They are still finding stuff today and their are significant items that have never been found like the Amber Room from St Petersburg palace in Russia.
Well, if the foundation for Raiders of the Lost Ark is true, then Hitler did in fact have an interest in Biblical objects. I know the Nazis had a fascination with archaeological objects that supported their claim to superiority, so a fascination with old Biblical objects isn't surprising. This reminds me - I thought that the Nazis also tried to obtain the Spear of Longinus, which was said to have been used to pierce the side of Christ at the Crucifixion. I thought we had a thread here at WCF on the matter but I can't find it.
Isn't the Spear of Longinus in Vienna? I thought it was a possession of the Hapsburgs and stayed in Vienna after the fall of the Hapsburg Empire.
