This is cool how he found this and got permission to have it sent back home (along with a pistol and a dagger). It's surprising that it is estimated to only get $20,000 at auction considering the documentation, condition of the globe, and that it has a shrapnel hole in it.http://egyptelection.com/Images/05-06/capt.6fb4ad1b327a4b8fafe91d48fa56a91e.germany_violent_history_sber505.jpg
Days after the end of World War II, American soldier John Barsamian entered the wreckage of Hitler's mountain stronghold, finding fierce Allied bombing had left the "Eagle's Nest" in ruins. The place was destroyed and almost everything had been looted by other soldiers - except for the globe. "Literally, the place is all bombed out and here this globe is sitting there on the desk," Mr Barsamian, now 91, said.
Yes, that is odd that it would only go for that much. I'd expect bids to bring it much higher than that. Napoleon's sword, after all, sold for over $6 million earlier this year. Perhaps it's the stigma of Hitler that keeps it so low; in other words, people don't want to bid too high on something associated with the Fuhrer.
Well it looks like the selling price came in a bit higher at $115k.Globe linked to Hitler sells for $115,000
