Endeavour was the only Space shuttle to get it's name in a contest among school students. Of course, most of you shoulc that Enterprise, the test orbiter, had it's name changed after Trekkies did a massive write-in campaign.I remember the contest, but I was in High School and could not participate. 🙁
I remember participating in it when I was in school. A friend of mine had thought of the name “Genesis” for the shuttle, and I thought that was cool, so I came up with a similar name which I also thought had a lot of meaning for a space shuttle – “Exodus”. I still think that either name would be good for a spaceship.I don't recall knowing about the requirement that the name had to be "on an exploratory or research sea vessel that had previously sailed."
