I have not been posting much this past week because my Father-in-law passed away last Saturday while I was at Koniggratz and it has been a hectic week to say the least what with planning and attending the funeral and everything else that happens when someone passes away. He was great guy but he had been very ill for the last 1 1/2 years after multiple strokes and my wife and I console ourselves with the thought that he is in a better place.I should be able to get back to more regular posting this week but that depends on school as I will now be taking two grad course at once out of the three I have left. I am in the home stretch and trying to finish my degree next fall giving myself six-months for only thesis research. They are two great classes ::) Modern European history and history of the Enlightenment. I will only say that I despise pseudo-Marxist historiography and both periods are full of it.
My condolences to your wife, you, and your family. I'll keep you guys in my prayers. It is hectic when someone passes away…things like that certainly give greater perspective on life.
Sorry to hear, scout. At least it didn't come as a surprise. When my dad died it was sort of a surprise, but when my mom died it was expected. Still doesn't take away that I miss them, but it made my mom's death easier to handle escpecially having to watch the last stages of her Alzheimers.
I sincerely hope I dont have to go through something like that again any time soon. Both my parents are still alive and if my ancestors give a clue, likely to live for a while longer yet. My dad is 71 and mom is 66 and my grandparents on both sides lived into their 80's except for my mom's dad who died in WWII. I hate funerals in general and they are even worse when it is someone you knew, respected, and cared for.Thanks for the sentiments.
You are in our thoughts. We have no elders (in the family) left but many friends that are advancing in age. Understand and agree all counts.
