KeymasterWow I just saw Pat Sajak clean house on a celebrity episode of Jeopardy! His end total was over $55,000, which is probably the most I've ever seen anyone accumulate.

ModeratorYes, that was pretty good. I missed the beginning and only saw the double jeopardy.

KeymasterLast night I saw someone come away with a one-day total of $77,000 on Jeopardy. I believe Trebeck said it was a new record….though I'd have to verify that because it seems like Jeopardy has been on the air forever. Anyway, one trick for getting that much money is to a) be really good (this guy knew answers to questions that I would not have gotten from things like Greek mythology to something about Family Guy) and b) to have one of your competitors more or less give up. There was a girl who was at -$400 when I turned and she didn't answer a single question while I was watching. She seriously looked as if she was ready to cry when the show ended.

KeymasterWell the guy won again tonight, though it was much closer. The answer on final jeopardy was:"From 1531 to 1972, this nation only had kings by the name of Christian or Frederick." The dude got it right. Anyone know the answer (question)?

KeymasterYou got it. But you would have gotten it wrong for failing to phrase it in the form of a question. ;D

ParticipantI took and passed the test to get on Jeopardy in 1996 but never got called to appear. Maybe my improper answer format is why. ;D 😀

KeymasterDid you have to go someplace special to do it, or did they do a “traveling test” to different states? It's too bad you weren't called to go. I wouldn't mind going on the show. Who wouldn't want to try their hand at all that cash? 🙂

ParticipantI was deployed to Bosnia and they had a traveling evaluation team looking for people in the military to appear on the show.

KeymasterSo has anyone been watching the Man vs. Machine episodes of Jeopardy!? I missed yesterday, but just watched today's. Needless to say, the computer Watson cleaned house, and had almost a $30,000 advantage going into Final Jeopardy. But then the funniest thing happened. The category was “U.S. Cities” and the question was: which city has its largest airport named after a WWII hero, and second largest airport after a WWII battle? As far as these questions are concerned, I thought it was pretty obvious, and each of the two humans got it correct. But then Watson chooses…..Toronto?!? What in the world? It didn't matter since it bet less than $1000, but still….kind of funny.
