ModeratorWho else thinks the Olympic theme song (Bugler's Dream) fits perfectly in London? I'm expecting William III to come sailing down the Thames on the HMS Victory followed by a line of ships.

KeymasterIs that the Chariots of Fire theme song? Yes, is does fit it quite well. It's been ages since I saw that movie. I must have been about 7 or so when I remember my parents watching it. I just remember them running on that beach with the music playing.
I was not thinking Gabby was black, colored, or A-A, when Costas made those inane and unnecessary racial remarks. He would have been a better man if he said Gabby inspired all short people -- like himself. The leftist media will never allow a post-racial society to exist.
That's true - we can't arrive at a "post-racial" world so long as it's considered a big deal for a person of color to achieve something new. By making a big deal out of these things, we are taking steps back into the "racial" world.

No, that's a different song. This one has been used since the 1976 games I think. They've been playing it at the beginning of the prime time coverage.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPt3AGdwOkELast time I saw Chariots of Fire I thought it was really boring. I want to watch it again.

KeymasterWell I had enough of NBC's politically-correct Olympic coverage. Anyway, watched the closing ceremonies last night and it was like a partial tribute to the classic rock bands of the 70s. The show was pretty good, but not quite the same level as the Chinese. All in all, I really enjoy watching the competition, but in a sense I'm glad it's over since now I won't be quite as distracted from work.

ModeratorI'm already suffering Olympic withdrawal symptoms. Very good closing ceremonies…just as British as the opening. The Brits sure made some good music! Glad they played Pink Floyd, disappointed David Gilmour didn't show up.NBC Sports Network wasn't as PC as the regular NBC.

KeymasterWell, between Bob Costas' PC remarks I discussed earlier, and the drive for sympathy for homosexual athletes, it was somewhat ridiculous to me.

ModeratorI just blocked him out. I'm glad there was no big gay kiss or some athlete taking out a rainbow flag. I really thought that was going to happen. When they interviewed that US woman soccer player, they tried it to make it a surprise that she was lesbian. Sorry, that wasn't a surprise…although Alex Morgan with her female partner kind of was. I still think Hope Solo is straight. She looked just as good at the end of that Gold medal match as she did at the beginning. On the other hand I was pleasantly surprised by the number of athletes publically proclaiming their Christian faith.

KeymasterYeah, me too for that last part. The guy who won the platform diving gold for the U.S. did that as well. Actually, there apparently was a gay kiss at the 2008 Olympics with one of the gay divers, and the commentator said something about how it “reverberated” around the world or something like that. Blah blah.
