    I'm locking this thread before it goes too much further.  Phid or Scout can unlock it if they wish, but I advise we take a breath before continuing further.

    I agree.  I will not be able to post this weekend because my son has a football game and I will be out of town all weekend.  When I have time on Monday I plan on checking the references.  I still don't believe Christian children were routinely abandoned to the elements and thier fate during the Middle Ages.  If that were the case, it would be a more famous phenomenon than it apparently is.
