Over the past several days, I have been getting lots of calls from a “company” called “Minnesota #1 Services”. The shtick always seems to be the same: the caller knows my first name and refers to storms that came through Minneapolis recently, and asks when they can come out to repair my roof. When they try to confirm my address, they get it totally wrong. I have a Minnesota area code, but do not live in the state, and when I said that I am not in the area, the caller hung up. Nevertheless, the “company” has called back. On another call, I asked for their web site address. Click – the caller hung up. On another occasion, I asked for it again, and the caller said that they didn’t have one. Since this caller was more talkative, I asked for the company’s license number, and he said that they would show it to me when they came to my house. I searched for the company online, as well as on the Minnesota residential contractor licensing site. Nothing there. All of this sounds pretty fishy. Is it a scam? All signs point to it, but it if is an honest company using a horrible marketing technique, I will correct this post. Here are the telephone numbers linked to the “company” (I have answered some of them, and others from the same area code I presume are also associated with it):
When dealing with this “company” be careful.
