Come on, Republicans, I want you to win in November and beyond, but this is ridiculous. Worry more about important things like, say, openly gay judges cancelling out 7 million votes.Bike agenda spins cities toward U.N. control, Maes warns
"This is bigger than it looks like on the surface, and it could threaten our personal freedoms," Maes said. He added: "These aren't just warm, fuzzy ideas from the mayor. These are very specific strategies that are dictated to us by this United Nations program that mayors have signed on to."
How does this threaten personal freedom and how is this something that's "dictated" by the U.N.? I want more bikepaths in RI, that must mean I'm part of the global UN illuminati. ::)
I dunno…it's a local government issue, and we're only getting a sliver of what's going on. I agree that on its own, it does seem silly. But the Republican candidate admits as much in terms of initial appearances…which suggests to me that there's information us outsiders just do not have:
"At first, I thought, 'Gosh, public transportation, what's wrong with that, and what's wrong with people parking their cars and riding their bikes? And what's wrong with incentives for green cars?' But if you do your homework and research, you realize ICLEI is part of a greater strategy to rein in American cities under a United Nations treaty," Maes said.
