I was in Munich this past weekend for a weekend trip with my wife. Munich is one of my favorite cities in Germany and one we have been to at 15-20 times. I was disturbed this time by the number of women I saw walking around in full-up hijab. I even saw a few in burkas and gloves so that no skin was exposed at all. I have never seen so many walking around in the full get-up before and it siturbed me to the point that we cut the trip short and came home.My wife cannot stand it that such things irritate me but they do. I found the most exquisite irony when we had lunch at the Hofbräuhaus and saw a woman sitting there covered from head to toe trying to eat by lifting up her veil while her husband sat across from her nursing a 1 liter Mas of beer. What really gets me is that it does not seem to bother anyone else and noone seems to see the hyp[ocrisy. If westerners go to Muslim countries we are supposed to respect their traditions by having women cover up and refraining from alcohol yet if Muslims come here they are not expected to show the same respect. I would love to see Germany take the same step as France and banned the Niqab, Hijab, and Burka. What I would really love to see is a full-fledged repatriation program to send them back from whence they came. That would be a better use of the taxes my wife pays than the welfare payments most Muslims currently receive.
Sooner or later, the West is going to have to demand fairness from those in Muslim countries. Why Islamic centers can be built in the West, but Christian churches cannot be built in certain countries (e.g. Saudi Arabia), is a glaring inconsistency which should be raised by the international community and the U.S. President at international meetings. It is almost embarrassing to see how spineless the West has become in dealing with some of these issues, and I think it has to do with fear. While I do not think I would be in favor of forced repatriation, I think that nations should be more prudent in their immigration policies across the board so they can avoid problems later on. Absent refugee status, as immigrant groups become larger, the danger increases of having factions built within their host countries because those immigrants cannot easily be assimilated into larger society. Seems to me that immigration policies should reflect a nation's desire to assimilate those which it allows to enter. An interesting side - on my last trip to Europe (now about 11 years ago) I went to the Hofbräuhaus while passing through Munich on three occasions. My impression was that the place had become a big tourist destination, occupied by quite a few Asian tourists. So perhaps Muslim tourists are displacing Asian ones? Anyway, I thought that Muslims were not allowed to drink alcohol, but I could be wrong.
Don't hold your breath waiting for reciprocity in relations between confessions. I think the Muslims have chosen a third way and are infiltrating peacefully while letting demographics take it's inevitable course. They are much likely to defeat the West through birth rate than any other way. My big hope is that they push India a little bit too far. I don't think the majority Hindus take too kindly to Muslims anyway and are likely to do some some serious butt whupping if pushed.I don't see why forced repatriation is a bad idea. Most Muslims n European countries originally came as asylum seekers. Simply send them back, it really is that easy.Yes, the Hofbräuhaus is a big tourist trap, it is right across the Platzl from the Hard Rock Cafe and smack in the center of town. If you go there in the summer you have to be careful or you will get rampled. They make a great mushroom soup and the beer aint too shabby either although there are beers in my area that I think are better.
Yes, I have realized that Europe is essentially lost due to birth rate. The underlying reason why so many immigrants are allowed to enter Europe is because there is a demand for bodies to work there, as the population would otherwise not increase enough to support the general welfare. It is the scourge of modern “family planning” that has come back to bite civilization, and which the West does not seem to understand (or want to understand). The West is content to live with smaller, yet wealthier families. The Third World is content to live with larger, yet poorer families. In the end, the latter wins out since civilization is based upon people rather than things. The reason why America is not as bad off as Europe just yet is because we have our own ready source of immigrants from our southern border. The reason why I question forced repatriation is because it could potentially violate fundamental human rights. Although we have to seriously examine the cultural and political impact of Muslims imparting Islamic beliefs into our government and culture, I think it's a step too far to take it out on Muslims per se. I may disagree with Islam and the cultural choices that they make, but I have to accept their right to live in a free society and to worship or dress or do what they do. However, once they cross the line and try to enforce their religious choices on others, I have a problem.
Perhaps Western and Central Europe will secular enough that when threatened by the sword of Islam, they will convert rather than fight?
I foresee Europe Islamizing with a whimper instead of a bang as well. They stopped them at the Gates of Vienna in 1683 yet today they are inviting them in with open arms and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Liberal sensitivity, the Cult of Diversity at any cost, and PC thinking have gone too far. There is also the human propensity to miss the forest for the trees. Everybody knows at least one Muslim who has secularized and therefor thinks that all Muslims eventually will. I think they are mistaken there and those Muslims who have secularized will return to the fold eventually. Islam is like the Tar Baby in that respect.
Heck, I aint even worried about that. Look at all the ones who are in Europe already and their birthrate. They will outbreed Europeans in a generation or two at which point full-on Dhimmitude awaits. Hopefully I will be dead before that happens. What happens in Europe will happen in the US too, mark my words. We should be begging latinos to come in. I will take a boatload of Christian cnetral and south Aaericans over a single Muslim, every day of the week. At least we both pray to the same God.
Lack of will. Two world wars castrated Europe. Here in the USA, Those too young to remember WWII have no idea what war-weariness is. Try living for a few years with rationing of essentials — butter, coffee, sugar, gas, meat, eggs, etc. plus sons, brothers, lovers, in combat, some killed and maimed. Those who did not serve in the military and have no one they loved serving in Iraq and Afghanistan carried on as if those wars did not exist. And they're war weary?
Isn't part of the “castration of Europe” also a function of the pendulum of racial/ethnic tolerance issue? With Hitler the pendulum swung to an extreme attitude which led to the deaths of millions, and now in response it has swung the other way so that even showing a swastika in Germany and Austria is illegal (this idea sounds strange as an American). Has political correctness – and the fear of tapping into Nazi-esque ideas which fall upon ethnic lines – prevented Europe from addressing problems which nevertheless are emerging around ethnic lines involving Muslims?
I think modern liberalism has convinced many people that Western civilization is inherently evil and thus not worth defending. I generally picture lemmings when I think about it. There is a definite lemming like attitude when Western institutions and culture are attacked. I find it sad and pathetic that people can get worked up about baby seals and polar bears but not about the assaults on Christianity and Individuality.
Yeah, that's true. I think people get worked up about baby seals and global warming because they feel the need for some larger purpose which they otherwise don't experience.

That other purpose is called religion but it is so passé these days in the post-modern world.
