ParticipantCan anybody identify the location these pictures were taken today at my Son's Football games? He won both games 44-6 and 20-14 thus ending the regular season 6-0 and securing a spot in the playoffs. I am curious if anyone will figure it out. Oh yeah, my son is in both pictures of course, he is the place kicker and wide receiver.

KeymasterI was going to say something like the Reichssportfeld, but I don't think that's it. It looks like there's an old school track running around the field.

ModeratorIt is unfortunate that googling “Bayreuth Dragons” only shows entries in German.

ParticipantWell, it is a German American Football club. Why would they have their site in English if it for Germans who want to know about a German club.

ParticipantInteresting to learn that the Zeppelinfeld was one of Albert Speer's first works for the Nazis and was modelled on the Pergamon Altarhttp://www.museums.nuremberg.de/documentation-centre/topics/party-rally-grounds.html

KeymasterPhid, do you know if any of this was used in the 1936 Olympics?
No, it was not begun until after. From the article accompanying the photos:
On the occasion of the cornerstone celebration, Hitler presented a two-meter high model of the planned new construction in front of 24,000 people. The stadium was to have room for more than 400,000 spectators. Excavation began in 1938, but they didn't get much further than that. Construction in Nuremberg ceased only one year later due to the outbreak of World War II.

At least you identified it, but from what I see it is a somewhat tenuous connection to the Pergamon Altar.See here -

ParticipantAeth got it. It is the Nazi Party Grounds in Nuernberg. The are now is a pretty big sports complex, the 1 FC Nuernberg soccer stadium is there and so is the Ice Hockey Arena for the Nuernberg IceTigers. The football field is now where the back rows of people are standing in your picture Phid.I thought it was ttally ironic that there is now a football field inside the old parade field.
