At first glance it did seem like a big deal, but then it seemed like he's just a history buff and this story is misleading. If this guy is criticized for this, shouldn't all actors from Hollywood who portray Nazis be criticized as well?
If you want to be part of public life or politics, you avoid to wear such a disguise, even if no malicious intend behind (public therefore public-ity) :-
I agree that it is a stupid thing to do, but it is and will be blown so out of proportion that the truth will be lost in the hype. Politics as usual in other words.
Does this topic belong in World War II or the Senate Chambers?My take is the guy did nothing wrong and should tell the media to take a hike. He's not a Nazi sympathizer, he's a re-en-actor. Somebody has to play the bad guys when re-enactments are done. I know some gun dealers who have lots of Nazi memorabilia. My father has a ton of old Nazi stamps. They are collectors of historical relics and nothing more. The same with this guy only his interest is live action.

Actors are paid for their portrayals.However, kind of hard to have a WWII re-enactments without re-enactors on both sides, ya know?

But if that photo was taken more than three years ago, perhaps he didn't even know he would enter politics at the time. Kind of hard to fault someone for doing something like that.
