Home › Forums › Early Modern Europe › New code possibly deciphered in da Vinci painting
I saw a news story a few days ago but haven't actually seen the images which supposedly reveal what has been “deciphered”. Apparently there was some hidden image(s) in Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper that I think only recently was uncovered. From what I have read it doesn't involve scandal a la The DaVinci Code interpretation, but it is interesting nonetheless if true. I might not discredit it if the code is based on geometric angles as suggested; from what I understand the Renaissance was an age where hidden codes came into light in books or what not. Anyone else see the codes uncovered in the painting?
I saw this on TV yesterday. Do you think it's real (2 knights and a baby) or is someone just trying to cash in on the DaVinci Code craze?
Well, like I said I wouldn't put it past the Renaissance mind to put code into its works, but whether this is a true one or not is still unclear. I'll have to visit one of the sites where they point it out to take a look for myself.
Now there's a story about a code inserted into the eyes of the woman depicted in the Mona Lisa! Talk about adding fuel to the fire of conspiracies surrounding Da Vinci! I do think it's interesting if there's something to this, and I'd like to hear what it is that they think is depicted in her eyes. This tidbit in the article, though, is left unexplained and makes me curious about it:"The search was initiated by another Dan Brown-style plot device after a fellow committee member discovered a musty book in an antique shop ?referring to symbols in the Mona Lisa?s eyes."
