KeymasterPlease excuse the current forum logo/header if it does not appear correctly on your screen. I put the current one up there temporarily until I can come up with a new one. I just needed to make sure I knew what exactly I needed to change from a software standpoint.

ParticipantI really like the logo, it really dresses things up nicely. How did you go about designing it?

KeymasterI've got some software at my disposal. I'll try to come up with a better one sometime in the near future now that I've got some free time on my hands.

ParticipantIs the software your using bundled with the SMF software, or are you using somethng else?

KeymasterNo, it's other software that I have. There are probably many kinds of software that a person can use to do what I'm doing, but when you get familiar with one program you tend to stick with it because you know how to “unleash its power”. 🙂

ParticipantLooks good. It helps to have some window dressing. I guess if it catches the eye, it might picque some interest that otherwise might not have been there.

ParticipantI may be a little picky (you know me), but it appears your new header logo is cropped off on the right hand column. Is that how you made it or is the image too big for the set dimensions? Well I just looked again and the right hand column is noticeably smaller than the left hand side so I guess it's supposed to look that way. I guess I'm just a symmetry freak. 🙂

ParticipantI'm beginning to sound like that guy Monk on USA Network. 🙂

KeymasterFunny….I just noticed what you're seeing. I had been viewing it only through Firefox, where it was a perfect fit, but when looking with IE just now I see that it's cropped. I'll have to fix it. Thanks for the heads up.

ParticipantI probably would have never noticed the cropping. oh well, your site's realy coming together Phidippides!

KeymasterAlright, I fixed the forum header, except for a sliver shaved off the right side of it when viewing with IE. There's a pixel or two difference when viewing in IE compared to Firefox. Without changing the underlying graphic, it's hard to make it look exactly the same in both browsers. I may make some changes to it down the road anyway.

ParticipantI'm viewing through IE 7. What is the big advantage of having Firefox?
August 11, 2006 at 12:22 am #6038Stumpfoot
ParticipantI have IE and it still looks the same as it did.

KeymasterDonnie, the advatage of Firefox is that you can add “extensions” that are really quite cool. I didn't like it at first and I uninstalled it. Later I reinstalled in because I was designing a site and needed to make sure that things would appear well in Firefox, and also I had heard about the web developer's toolbar…..simply an awesome helper if you're designing sites. Trust me, you'll come to like it if you unleash its power. It will help you while designing sites.

Okay okay I'll download it and test it out. IE 7 has been pretty good so far for a beta.
