After the success of the History Channel's miniseries “America: The Story of Us”, the station is going to show a new miniseries which will attempt to explain the story of mankind. It will be called “Mankind the Story of All of Us”. TV's History channel sets ambitious miniseriesI am a fan of the "America" miniseries, which I did not realize was the highest-viewed show in the channel's history. I caught a bit of the miniseries while on broadcast, and have since been watching them from the beginning on Netflix. I like the polish of the series; the recreation scenes are compelling, and the maps and graphics they use are highly informative and well put together. Certain episodes from American history are highlighted and told in very interesting ways. On the negative side, it leaves a lot of history out (understandable given the time restrictions), and it is interspersed with comments by American celebrities who provide surprisingly little insight into what they are talking about. I suppose I do give the History Channel points for trying to make the series relevant to the masses and for trying to push the theme of "unity" or "what makes America great".Anyway, it will be interesting to see the new series when it airs in the Fall of 2012.
scout1067ParticipantI envy you being able to access Netflix. I cannot access Netflix or Hulu in Germany because of copyright issues.
