Some think that whenever "race" is mentioned it must be racist or you would never have though of race in the first place.  All I need are more lefty kool-aid drinkers spouting off about how this country needs more socialism and everybody just needs ahug and someone elses money.  I am just waiting for the calls for the Dictatorship of the Proletariat to start.

I think what exists today is a move to a semiotic approach to race in which people interpret particular comments as being "code" for race.  I can see how this is legitimate in certain circumstances (e.g. an all-white golf club which says it only wants members of "certain distinction") but particularly in the election season this has gone overboard.  I recall a few months ago a charge of racism or racial overtones being brought up when someone praised Obama not for his arguments on the issues but for his oratory skills.  I thought that this was interpreting a code where none existed.  In the last few weeks we have heard other charges of racism brought by people on the left which I think have also gone too far in what they assert, in what they "read" into what is said.
