ParticipantOBAMA SONGQuite diverting--a little to much assonance, but cute.Dissent--one of the inalienable rights of a citizen in a democracy. On this we must all agree even if we disagree on the message.

I would say the right is better at being open to dissent than the left. When there was dissent under Bush, the only comment I heard him make about it was that that was part of our country and that they were free to have their opinions. With dissent under Obama, the president goes after the dissenters. Also, reinstation of the Fairness Doctrine keeps resurfacing with the Democrats because they don't like the message that a few conservative commentators are able to communicate. When there was dissent under W., Nancy Pelosi said she respected the dissenters. When there was dissent under Obama, she called it "un-American".Not long ago I saw a car with some Obama or other Democrat bumper stickers on it, along with another sticker which said that dissent was the highest form of patriotism. I wonder if that person feels the same way now that the shoe is on the other foot.

ParticipantWhen dissent is aimed at liberal policies it is not dissent but subversive and seditious behavior and thus deserving of punishment. the left just cannot fathom why everyone does not worship both them and their policies. they are so magnanimous with everyones money after all.
