Everything you worry about now will come to pass. Never underestimate the liberal urge for control. It is all in our best interests of course but it is nonetheless control. Personally, I am wondering if my VA insurance will keep me from paying the Obamacare fine/tax. I have not seen a good answer yet on whether that qualifies or not. If I had to bet, I would guess I will end up paying the fine.
I don't know if this is happening in all states, but someone from the RI Dept of Health keeps calling to ask some questions about health care. I don't answer when I see the number so the message they leave is that this is something I have to answer. If I ever do pickup the phone when they call, I won't answer the questions other than saying “I'm all set with the health coverage I get at work. Goodbye”
Note: I split this topic off the privacy topic since it seemed like it could veer off anyway, and I am kind of interested in discussing health care now that is starting. What I really want to see/hear is the response of the Occupy Wall Street crowd and others like them who are asked about whether they knew that they are going to have to pay the fine if they don't buy health insurance. I imagine that many 20-somethings don't buy it on their own (I didn't have it for a number of years because I didn't want to spend the money) and will be faced with the shock of getting fined over it.
I am still waiting to find out if my VA and Retiree medical counts for Obamacare. I have yet to get a good answer. I suppose I will find out when I do my taxes in January.I also look for the Democrats to try to blame everything bad that comes out of the law on Republicans and the Tea Party in particular. I expect the Democrats will try to spin it such that if it wasn't for the dirty conservatives everything would be going swimmingly.
I read this article and this quote stuck out at me. It pretty much sums up all of our emotions/complaints/predictions/criticisms in one sentence (in bold):
Pam Kehaly, president of Anthem Blue Cross in California, said she received a recent letter from a young woman complaining about a 50% rate hike related to the healthcare law."She said, 'I was all for Obamacare until I found out I was paying for it,'" Kehaly said.
I notice the blame Republican game has started already. I have found out that my retiree health insurance meets requirements.I am currently sitting back and laughing while I watch the ACA fall apart under it's own weight of contradictions. I suspect that shortly the calls for "fixing" it by instituting single-payer will get more strident. I also suspect that the smoke and mirrors from the admin and progressives will get thicker as they try to distract the sheeple from what a disaster "their" law is. The Democrats own this one as it was passed with only Democrat votes.
Yes, just today I saw someone comment about how “if only” the Republicans in Congress would vote for some fixes of Obamacare, it could work. That seems to be part and parcel of the liberal playbook: to them, there doesn't seem to be enough change to satisfy them, and their utopian world is “just around the corner” if only we take their policy one step further. Remember the stimulus package? It could have worked “if only” we had put even more money into it. It's a great way to shift the blame when liberal policies fail to bear fruit, and it's also a great way for liberals to get people to invest even more into their schemes.
Liberals have been doubling down on failed projects or decades, schools, welfare, medicaid, and “green” energy come to mind. Why would we expect anything different with health care? What gets me is how the media lets them get away with blaming Republicans for the failure of their signature programs. Avoiding responsibility is part and parcel of the liberal playbook. They are like three year olds in that regard, they can be reliably expected to claim “it wasn't me” every time.
