KeymasterDonnie has created a portal for his Christian Legacies site, which also serves as a place to post or find site status for Western Civ Forum if this site ever goes down. The site is located at:http://www.christian-legacies.com/ (click on the portal button)There's also a place there to play chess or chat live. Donnie and I are currently on our Christmas match which is pretty fun.

ParticipantWhat exactly does a portal do? I've heard of them but dont know anything about them.

ParticipantThey serve as a junction to where you can go to multiple sites while also serving as a website itself with content. I have a support forum there, chat room, chess, news articles, a dictionary for definitions to be submitted, and a place to upload files and download files. Finally, an online shop is being constructed although we don't have any products up yet. I'm going to sell my used books there and if you want to sell some books you may. We'll eventually have some T-shirts and caps and stuff made up for WCF and CL to sell. It should be a nice site in time. 🙂

It won't get spammed as much. 😀Actually, I don't have an answer for that. It's all on one server on my side, so if it's down, then Christian Legacies is down and NJO and Gunsandall. I'd be out of commission big time. ::)

KeymasterDonnie I was saying that because currently NJO and CL are down.

I don't think so, I've been posting on them for forty minutes now.

KeymasterWell that's truly odd, then, since I'm getting a “problem loading page” on both sites….for the past 10 or 15 minutes. I've tried refreshing the cache as well and no luck. How many people are currently logged on?

ParticipantI am still having that same problem with this site. Weird.

boeboe and Mr.Mike was just on, and kingjoey and skiguy have posted a bunch, and Steve13 was on as well. There were about 8 lurkers on Gunsandall a moment ago too.

KeymasterWell I'm able to get to the sites now. I am at a different computer, though, and at a different internet connection. No idea what had happened.

KeymasterI just noticed that the off-site CL portal was blank – not down, but blank. Donnie, did you take it down or did hackers get to it?

I accidentally deleted the xoops tables from the database. I think I accidentally checked them in phpmyadmin and dropped them when I dropped the tables from some software I was trying out. I share the tables on databases sometimes and in this case I must have gotten them mixed up. I'll post an announcement where your members can gather in the event this site goes down. I think what I have setup now will be better. 😉
